Born 8th of March 1958 in Hammersmith, London, England. Started his musical career in 1977 as a punkrocker in the band, before being sacked in May 1977 for being 'too creative'. Responded to an advert in Melody Maker to join the band The Lasers, alongside. Both soon left to form their own punk band, with his uncle filling in on drums.
In 1978 was signed to and released a couple of punk singles. By then he was using the name Numan and the band was performing live in pubs and clubs around London, supporting. Whilst recording demos for Beggars, Gary stumbled upon a Minimoog that had been left behind in the studio, still programmed to a sound that caught his attention. The rest, as they say, is history. Gary Numan is considered one of the foremost pioneers in electronic dance music.

Here it is - The Troxy!!! Probably the most asked for show on Numa Boots at the moment, after waiting to see if a complete recording of this show would appear it still as of yet it hasn't. So what we have here is what has become known at Numa Boots as the Frankenstein Troxy!
This is for those who really want this show (and what an amazing show it was!). This has been compiled from various fan postings on youtube and reassembled into the correct running order with two exceptions.firstly we couldn't find the new track 'When The Sky Bleeds, He Will Come' so that is listed below but isn't included in the download.
I can confirm that the latest sources for QtSerialPort work with custom baud rate. I am trying to communicate with a Gyro of serial using QSerialPort. 100 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 16000. Header: #include. Qmake: QT += serialport. Since: Qt 5.1. Each QSerialPortInfo object in the list represents a single serial port and can be queried for the port name, system location, description, and manufacturer. Returns a list of available standard baud rates supported by the target platform.

Secondly we couldn't find a Troxy version of 'Crawl' so we have included the version played the night before in Manchester for continuity. The audio quality of this varies greatly but it is as complete an experience as we can currently offer. This one may or may not be tagged correctly as there seems to be a few boots circulating listing 3 different dates/venues from the Australian leg of 'The Touring Principle 80' Tour but this came to me as being from Brisbane. The main reason for posting this one is that to my ears it has a better sound quality than the one currently posted on the excellent Numan Folder site which hopefully you all visit regularly!
So if you have this one already then in my opinion this is worth getting to compare the sound and posting it here makes it easier for the guys who run The Numan Folder to grab it too! In July 2007 Gary under took a mini tour consisting of just a handful of dates designed primarily to promote the launch of the 'Jagged Live' album and dvd. The set list for these shows however was anything but a re tread of the Jagged tour, of particular note are the inclusion of 'The Leather Sea' from Ade Fenton's 'Artificial Perfect' album and the decision to play some very early Tubeway Army tracks that hadn't been played for a very long time! To keep the sound of the early tracks the band stripped down to just guitars, bass and drums as Gary tore through 'This Is My Life', 'Basic J' and 'Friends', a truly great moment.

This is another audience source but isn't half bad and with a set list like this it's worth it! The cover of the album might still make you cringe (was that Gary's Miami Vice moment?!) but 'The Fury' had it's moments, this is an audience source from the first of the 2 Hammersmith Odeon shows played at the beginning of October. Sound wise it's an odd one, the vocals are pretty clear and the music is fuller than other recordings I've heard from this tour but it still has a 'tinnyness' to it. As I haven't come across much from this tour yet this is the best that I currently have, remember to drop me a line if you have any Numan bootleg that you love and let's see if we can get it posted for all at Numa Boots! (We will of course give you a shout out too!). Here it is, the final night of the 'Wave Goodbye' tour and as you would expect it was always going to be something pretty special.
Clocking in at a mere 3 and a quarter hours and featuring a whole host of special guests and no less than 3 encores this is a great sounding audience recording which again features the Mike Garson instrumental version of 'Down In The Park' before Gary comes on for the full band version. 'Metal' is there as expected but instead of the usual 'Cars' we get treated to 'I Die You Die'. This was a fitting farewell to the live NIN, let's hope it's not too long before we see them again! I thought long and hard about whether to post these or not as it's the first thing that isn't directly featuring Gary Numan to appear on Numa Boots.
However I know that many of you will like to hear these excellent soundboard recordings of Ultravox! With John Foxx on vocals. Now if I had to justify the inclusion on Numa Boots I could go for the Billy Currie angle or the recent live dates with John Foxx, but as I don't have to justify it I'll leave it to you to decide whether you want these or not!
The Numan Folder was set up in 2007 allowing fans to upload and download Numan bootlegs, demos and rarities. Sound quality varies but you can preview or play tracks to see for yourself and they do have some amazing stuff available. Sometimes it's nice to have a recording of a gig you went to but it may not be great quality.these won't make their way onto Numa Boots but plenty of you might like them so bookmark the link and check it out! Numa Boots thanks all at The Numan Folder for their permission to re-post downloads from their site.
This is a good quality recording with a decent mix, initially the vocals seem a little quiet but on repeat listening they are well balanced. Lots of funk elements in this one too.it won't be to everyone's taste but if it is to yours make sure you grab this show! 01.Hanoi 02.Me! If The Fury wasn't a full return to form, at points it was still a step up, taking some of his better AOR/funk moves from the previous albums and welding them to the sort of choppy-yet-powerful electronic moves bands like Depeche Mode in particular made their own.
There's a greater focus on experimentalism this time out; his appreciation of sampling comes fully to the fore here, and at its best is no more or less effective than what near-contemporaries like Colourbox and Cabaret Voltaire also attempted at the time. Meanwhile, though there's still a definite need for editing at points when it comes to songs outstaying their welcome, Numan is notably much more upfront in the mix, his slippery quaver infusing the sometimes metronomic results with emotion. Even if he lyrically retreads a bit of ground - 'The Pleasure Skin' reflects on male prostitution and sexuality, something similar from early days on - he knows how to provide the results with his own particular spin. Often the slower ballads connect best; 'Miracles,' with its bell-synth tinges and steady pace, could almost be a transposition of the Cocteau Twins to a much different setting.
